Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2006
Domaine Bonneau du Martray is the largest owner of Corton-Charlemagne with 9 contiguous hectares - a third of the entire appellation - at Pernand-Vergelesses. The 2006 is a warm, mature vintage in Burgundy: the Corton-Charlemagne develops opulent tones of citrus, hazelnut and cinnamon over an austere, crystalline minerality. Ageing 15 months in futs (30% new) with small portions in concrete and stoneware eggs. Biodynamics since 2004.

Insight
Get to know the wine
Bonneau du Martray's Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2006 comes from the 9 hectares of contiguous property on the Montagne de Corton at Pernand-Vergelesses, west-facing, with vines of average age 40-50 years. Biodynamics across the whole domaine since 2004.
Vinification: pressing, alcoholic fermentation in vat/cask, then 15 months of ageing in Burgundian futs (30% new) with small fractions in concrete and stoneware eggs. Bottling without aggressive interventions.
The 2006 in Burgundy was a warm, generous vintage: Bonneau du Martray's Corton-Charlemagne expresses in this vintage an opulent, already splendidly evolved character.
Candied citrus, hazelnut and cinnamon over a mineral, taut palate. A wine at its peak, to be drunk now and through 2030.
Sommelier's note
