Silex 2014 — Blanc Fume de Pouilly
Silex is the most famous and sought-after Sauvignon Blanc in the world, born from the oldest vines of the domaine on a flint soil at Saint-Andelain. Today it is Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau who carries forward the vision of his father Didier (who passed away in 2008) with the same intensity and rigor. The 2014 in the Loire was a fresh vintage of excellent structure — perhaps more classic and taut than the 2012, with a grassy and very markedly mineral profile.

Insight
Get to know the wine
The Silex 2014 from Domaine Didier Dagueneau is born from the same flint parcel at Saint-Andelain with the same philosophy: hand harvest, very low yields, fermentation in oak, no filtration.
The 2014 in the Loire is distinguished by a fresher and grassier profile than the previous vintage — a Silex of classic, northern cut, with lively acidity and almost stony minerality.
The 2014 is a vintage appreciated by the purest connoisseurs of Silex: less opulent than the 2012 but of great tension and longevity.
Field herbs, firestone, citrus and a structure that promises evolution. To drink with decanting, at its best between 2025 and 2033.
Sommelier's note
“"Burnt match, green herbs, white currant, grapefruit and stone. Cutting acidity and pungent fruit on a palate of great tension. A Silex more austere and vertical than the 2012, with absolute minerality. To drink from 2022, at its best 2025-2033."”
