Insight
Get to know the wine
The Clos des Maladries by Etienne Calsac comes from a specific parcel ('clos') in the Avize Grand Cru — 100% Chardonnay on chalky soil.
Vinified in barrique with indigenous yeasts, spontaneous fermentation, extended ageing. Very low Extra Brut dosage. Vintage-dated — the year is shown on the label. Etienne Calsac founded the domaine in 2013, inheriting the family vineyards in Avize. His approach combines technical modernity with respect for the terroir.
Sommelier's note
“"Straw yellow with golden reflections and a very fine perlage. White flowers, lemon, grapefruit, chalk and the extraordinarily clean minerality typical of Avize. On the palate taut, vertical and precise — an Extra Brut that amplifies the minerality. Very long, saline finish. A Blanc de Blancs of great purity and sense of place."”
