Insight
Get to know the wine
The Bolgheri Sassicaia 2015 by Tenuta San Guido is born from 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc,
from vineyards located between 100 and 300 m a.s.l. on limestone soils rich in galestro, stones and clay, with
a West/South-West exposure. Manual harvest in mid-September. Spontaneous fermentation in
steel at 28-30 degrees, maceration 13-15 days with délestages to favour aromatic extraction.
Ageing 24 months in French oak barriques (1/3 new, the rest first and second use),
keeping the masses separate by vineyard until the final blending.
The 2015 is a legendary vintage for Sassicaia: a climate at the limits of perfection, a homogeneous and
healthy harvest, exceptional anthocyanin concentration. The wine combines power and finesse with a disarming
naturalness. Drink now with decanting, at its best between 2027 and 2045.
Sommelier's note
“"Intense ruby with garnet reflections. Small ripe red and black fruits, spicy notes of liquorice, tobacco, leather and balsamic nuances. Full-bodied and dense, with rich, ripe and velvety tannins. Marked freshness that balances the structure. Very long and harmonious finish. Drink now, at its best 2027-2045." ”
