Cabernet Sauvignon de Purcari
Cabernet Sauvignon de Purcari is the most classic and long-lived expression of Chateau Purcari, the most historic winery in Moldova, founded in 1827. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards of 15-20 years grown on clay-sandy chernozem — the most fertile soil of the Moldovan steppe — with 310-320 days of sun a year and a heat summation worthy of a great vintage. Manual harvest into crates, maturation 6 months in French oak barriques.

Insight
Get to know the wine
Cabernet Sauvignon de Purcari is born from grapes hand-harvested into crates in early September, vinified in steel at controlled temperature. The must ferments preserving the structure and fruit of the variety. Maturation takes place over 6 months in French oak barriques — an ageing that lends complexity and rounds out the tannins without overpowering the fruit. This is followed by a minimum of 6 months ageing in bottle before release.
Chateau Purcari has almost two centuries of winemaking history behind it in one of the most highly suited areas of Moldova: the Stefan Voda district. Chernozem — literally 'black earth' — is one of the most fertile and mineral-rich soils in the world, capable of expressing a Cabernet Sauvignon of great structure and longevity.
Sommelier's note
“"Intense ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose fresh sour cherries dominate, which with evolution give way to subtle notes of exotic spices. On the palate it is full and complex: ripe fruit, chocolate, vanilla and raisins. Soft tannins that underline its roundness and softness. Long finish with nuances of elegant maturation."”
