Echezeaux Grand Cru 2013
Domaine Gros Frere et Soeur is one of the historic benchmarks of Vosne-Romanee, with a Grand Cru portfolio of excellence: Richebourg, Grands-Echezeaux, Echezeaux and Clos de Vougeot. Founded in 1963 and led today by Bernard Gros, the domaine is famous for its opulent style and for ageing in 100% new barriques for the Grand Crus. The 2013 — a late harvest like the 2008 with yields halved — produced an Echezeaux of good concentration and excellent quality.

Insight
Get to know the wine
The Echezeaux Grand Cru 2013 from Domaine Gros Frere et Soeur is born from the Les Loachausses parcel (planted in 1995 by Bernard), 0.9 hectares on limestone-clay soil with an eastern exposure between 230 and 300 m a.s.l.
Vinification: hand harvest, double selection on a vibrating sorting table, fermentation in cooled concrete vats with two daily pigeage, resting on the lees without racking in the first year.
Ageing in 100% new French oak barriques with high toast — the domaine's signature characteristic.
Filtration only if necessary. The 2013 in Burgundy was a difficult vintage with catastrophic yields, as Bernard Gros himself declared, comparing it to 2003, but with ripe tannins and satisfying quality.
The profile of the Echezeaux 2013 is bright and luminous: fresh, concentrated fruit, sweet spices from well-integrated oak, an enveloping and silky tannic structure. To drink now with decanting, at its best by 2030.
Sommelier's note
“"Luminous aromas of musk, spices and undergrowth, with fresh and concentrated fruit well supported by toasted new oak. Noble and enveloping tannins, a round and silky body with good acidity. The finish is long and mineral, with evolving notes of truffle and leather. Perfect from 2023, at its best until 2030 and beyond."”
