Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Cailles 1er Cru 2011
Les Cailles is one of the most highly regarded Premiers Crus of Nuits-Saint-Georges: a warm, deep vineyard to the south of the village, which Mounir Saouma describes as denser and more tannic than the other 1ers Crus, with a 'burnt' character that comes from the terroir and not from the oak. The 2011 in Burgundy was an elegant, early-ripening vintage. Ageing on fine lees with no fining or filtration, classic Lucien Le Moine style.

Get to know the wine
The Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Cailles 1er Cru 2011 by Lucien Le Moine is born from one of the warmest vineyards
of the appellation, located in the southern part of Nuits-Saint-Georges on deep clay-limestone soil.
Mounir Saouma selects this cuvée after the fermentation, then ages it in his own cellar at
Beaune on fine lees for over a year, with malolactic delayed to the summer and without any fining
or filtration.
The 2011 is an elegant, early-ripening Burgundian vintage, with fine tannins and fruit of good
concentration. The character of Les Cailles — dense, deep, with a 'charcoal' note that recalls the
warm terroir of the cru — is expressed with cleanliness and precision. Drink from 2023 with decanting, at its best
until 2030
Sommelier's note
“"Ripe dark red fruit with notes of spice and minerality. Medium to full bodied, dense and enveloping tannins, precise acidity. Long finish with the 'brûlé' character typical of Les Cailles. Already enjoyable, at its best between 2023 and 2030."”
