Get to know the wine
Vinohora Rara Neagra & Malbec is born from vineyards of 15-20 years on clay-sandy chernozem in the classic area of Stefan Voda. Rara Neagra is a native Moldovan grape variety that is almost extinct, produced in very limited quantities, lending the wine freshness, acidic tension and a peculiar fruity profile.
Malbec adds body, roundness and spicy notes. Manual harvest into crates, fermentation in steel at controlled temperature, maturation 6 months in French oak barriques, then a minimum of 6 months in bottle. Vinohora's label is each year an artistic work dedicated to Moldovan cultural and historical themes — a collector's object as well as a wine of great character.
Rara Neagra was the grape of the medieval Moldovan princes: Chateau Purcari guards one of the last reserves of it in the world.
