Insight
Get to know the wine
The Barolo Sperss 2015 from the historic Gaja winery is born in the vineyards located in the municipality of Serralunga d'Alba, one of the most prestigious areas of Barolo.
The name "Sperss" comes from the Piedmontese dialect and means nostalgia, a testament to the Gaja family's strong bond with this territory. The wine is produced mainly from Nebbiolo, the emblematic grape of the Langhe, grown on soils rich in calcareous marl that confer structure and great ageing potential.
The 2015 vintage was excellent in Piedmont, with rich, balanced and highly expressive wines.
Vinification and ageing in wood allow the wine to develop great aromatic complexity and depth.
The result is an intense, refined Barolo capable of evolving magnificently for many years.
