Barolo Rocche di Castiglione 2019
Rocche di Castiglione is Vietti's founding cru: Alfredo Currado vinified it for the first time in 1961, creating one of Italy's very first single-cru Barolos. A 1.3-ha vineyard with plantings dating from 1950, south-east exposure and marl soils with sand that give the Nebbiolo a fresher, more aromatic profile than the other crus of Castiglione Falletto. In Magnum, the 2019 is a bottle for a great occasion and for collecting.

Insight
Get to know the wine
Vietti's Barolo Rocche di Castiglione 2019 comes from the winery's most historic vineyard, with vines from 1950 and 1968, facing south-east at around 330 metres of altitude.
The marl soils with their sandy component give the wine a fresher, more aromatically elevated character than the south-facing crus of Castiglione Falletto. Submerged-cap maceration, malolactic in wood, 30 months of ageing in oak casks, bottling without filtration.
On the nose it is elegant and precise: medicinal herbs, rose, raspberry and menthol open with great clarity. On the palate it is full and sensual, with silky tannins and fruit of remarkable purity.
The Magnum format preserves all the wine's vitality for decades. Ready from 2025, at its best between 2027 and 2035.
Sommelier's note
“Medicinal herbs, menthol, fresh raspberry and rose over a fresh, airy profile. On the palate it is sensual and enveloping, with silky tannins, bright fruit and no rough edges. The finish is resonant and long-lasting. The Magnum guarantees an even slower, deeper evolution. Antonio Galloni: 'deep and sensual, positively stellar, purity of the flavors is remarkable'.”
