Insight
Get to know the wine
Barbaresco Sorì San Lorenzo 2016 is one of the most prestigious wines produced by the historic Gaja winery, founded in 1859 and today regarded as a worldwide benchmark for the great wines of Piedmont.
This wine comes from the Sorì San Lorenzo vineyard, located in the municipality of Barbaresco, one of the most important crus of the appellation. The term “Sorì” denotes a south-facing vineyard, characterised by excellent sun exposure. The wine is produced mainly from Nebbiolo, the signature grape of the Langhe, grown on soils rich in calcareous marl.
The 2016 vintage is considered one of the finest of recent decades in Piedmont thanks to ideal climatic conditions.
Vinification and ageing in wood allow the wine to develop extraordinary complexity and structure. The result is an elegant, deep Barbaresco destined for a very long evolution in the bottle.
