Insight
Get to know the wine
The Barolo Bussia Colonnello 2013 is one of the most prestigious labels produced by the Poderi Aldo Conterno winery, a historic Langhe estate founded in the 1960s and today among the absolute benchmarks of traditional Barolo.
The wine comes from the Colonnello vineyard, one of the most important parcels of the Bussia area in the municipality of Monforte d’Alba. The soils, rich in calcareous marl and clay, give the Nebbiolo great structure, complexity and ageing potential.
The 2013 vintage is considered excellent in the Langhe, marked by a slow ripening of the grapes that gave rise to elegant and very well-balanced wines.
Traditional vinification and ageing in large oak casks help develop aromatic depth and finesse. The result is a refined, complex Barolo destined for a long evolution in the bottle.
