Moldova, between Romania and Ukraine, has lived on wine for millennia and is among the countries with the most vineyards per person in the world. Since 2013 it has been divided into four geographical indications: Codru in the centre, Ștefan Vodă and Valul lui Traian in the south, Bălți in the north. Alongside international grapes, native varieties are coming back: Fetească Neagră, Rara Neagră, Fetească Albă and Fetească Regală.
