The Duero terraces between Valladolid and Aranda: great high-altitude Tempranillo reds.
Ribera del Duero stretches for about a hundred kilometres along the river, between Valladolid and Soria, with Peñafiel and Aranda de Duero at its heart. At 750-900 metres, Tempranillo, here called Tinto Fino, gives deep, long-lived reds. An appellation since 1982, it is the home of Vega Sicilia, Pingus and Pesquera.
