About Us
Our story
Château Cheval Blanc is one of the most legendary wines in the world, a Premier Grand Cru Classé A of Saint-Émilion. Its unique distinction is the exceptionally high proportion of Cabernet Franc (around 50%), which gives the wines an inimitable aromatic complexity and silkiness.
The 39 hectares of vineyard lie on the border with Pomerol, on soils of gravel, sand and clay that lend the wine its unique character. The 1947 vintage is universally regarded as one of the greatest wines ever produced in history.
Since 1998 the château has been jointly owned by Bernard Arnault (LVMH) and Baron Albert Frère. The new winery, inaugurated in 2011, is a jewel of contemporary architecture designed by Christian de Portzamparc.
