About Us
Our story
Dal Forno Romano is the most celebrated producer in Valpolicella, located in the hamlet of Cellore d'Illasi, in the eastern part of the denomination. Romano Dal Forno, a pupil of Giuseppe Quintarelli, has taken Amarone to unprecedented levels of concentration and complexity.
The approach is extreme: very low yields in the vineyard, prolonged drying of the grapes until March, slow fermentation and ageing in new French barriques. The result are wines of monumental power yet surprisingly balanced, capable of evolving for decades.
Production is extremely limited and demand is very high, making Dal Forno Romano's wines among the most sought-after and expensive in Italy. Today his son Marco works alongside his father in running the winery.
