The village
Meursault is the largest white-wine village of the Côte de Beaune. It has no Grand Cru but world-famous Premiers Crus: Les Perrières, the most mineral, Les Charmes, the softest, Les Genevrières, the most complete. Limestone soils and barrel fermentation with long lees stirring give the famous buttery, hazelnut and honey character.

Coche-Dury is the most sought-after name in white Burgundy, with collector's bottles. Roulot stands for the taut, precise style; Comtes Lafon the rich, opulent one; Pierre Morey and Mikulski the tradition of village growers. Lucien Le Moine is the cult négociant of Beaune.
How to drink it
At 11-12 °C in a wide glass. Village wines are ready after three years, Premiers Crus after five; the best last fifteen years. Pairings: shellfish, butter-cooked fish, poultry in cream, refined cheeses.
