Bolgheri

Bolgheri and Sassicaia on Vinoly: the Bordeaux blends of the Tuscan coast, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grown facing the sea, from the Tenuta San Guido that invented the Supertuscans.

Bolgheri

A small DOC on the Livorno coast, created in 1983 and since 1994 the only Italian appellation with a sub-zone devoted to a single wine, Bolgheri Sassicaia. Here Bordeaux grapes found a Mediterranean, windy climate with pebble and clay soils reminiscent of the Graves.

Sassicaia

Created by Marquis Mario Incisa della Rocchetta in the 1940s for family use, sold from 1968 and consecrated in 1978 by a London tasting where it beat the best Bordeaux. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, 24 months in barrique, a wine that ages twenty or thirty years.
