Saint-Émilion
Saint-Émilion on Vinoly: Château Cheval Blanc and Château Ausone, the two historic Premiers Grands Crus Classés A of the right bank. Merlot and Cabernet Franc on limestone and gravel, velvety and deep wines.
The right bank
Saint-Émilion, a UNESCO site, is the heart of Bordeaux's right bank: here Merlot and Cabernet Franc replace the Médoc's Cabernet Sauvignon. Two terroirs: the limestone plateau around the village (Ausone, Canon, Belair-Monange) and the gravels towards Pomerol (Cheval Blanc, Figeac).
Cheval Blanc and Ausone
Cheval Blanc, with over half Cabernet Franc, is the most aromatic and silky Saint-Émilion; the 1947 is one of the legendary bottles of the 20th century. Ausone, seven hectares on pure limestone, is more austere and mineral, with extraordinary longevity.
