Vosne-Romanée

Vosne-Romanée on Vinoly: Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Échezeaux and the Premiers Crus of Burgundy's most celebrated village, from Méo-Camuzet and Gros Frère et Sœur. The most refined and sought-after Pinot Noir in the world.

The village

"There are no common wines in Vosne," said Abbé Courtépée in the 18th century. The village counts eight Grands Crus, including Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, La Romanée and Grands Échezeaux, and Premiers Crus such as Les Suchots, Les Beaux Monts and Aux Brûlées. Clay and limestone soils on a gentle, east-facing slope.

The style

Vosne Pinot Noir is perfumed and silky: violet, raspberry, sweet spice, a fine weave that stretches over decades. The Grands Crus of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti are the most expensive bottles in the world; Méo-Camuzet and Gros Frère et Sœur offer the same terroir at still-human prices.

How to drink it

At 16 °C, without decanting old bottles. Pairings: pigeon, noble game, truffle, white meats with truffle, refined cheeses.
