Pomerol
Pomerol on Vinoly: Château Pétrus, the most celebrated Merlot in the world, on blue clay. Velvety, deep wines for thirty years of cellaring.
Pomerol
A small appellation with no official classification, where Merlot reigns on gravel and clay soils. Pétrus, eleven hectares on the blue-clay "buttonhole" at the centre of the plateau, is Bordeaux's most expensive wine; around it, Le Pin, Lafleur, Trotanoy, Vieux Château Certan.
The style
Truffle, plum, violet, chocolate: a Merlot of unique density and softness, ready before the Médocs but able to age thirty years.
